What is ‘High Speed Internet’?

Often referred to as ‘Broadband Internet’, it is an ‘always on’ very fast Internet connection. The technology is usually one of:

The ACCC estimated that at the end of 2002 there were 363,500 broadband Internet customers across Australia.

80% of broadband customers are residential. They use this high speed Internet for fast downloading of videos, music and games and complex graphics.

What opportunities are there for broadband business? We will explore this in detail next issue!

Firstly, how much does broadband cost?

This is not an easy question to answer!

There are more than a dozen providers of broadband services. Each offers many service packages to suit different customer types and usage profiles. Providers also offer very attractive sign up incentives.

And ADSL services in particular are more complicated to cost and assess, because the same telephone line can also be used for normal telephone call services.
