Successfully Promote Your Web Site

You’ve put a lot of effort into your web site. It looks good, and you think your customers will like it.

But you’re not getting the visitor numbers you expected. And it doesn’t seem to be helping your business to grow.

Here are four of the most successful ways of building visitor numbers:

  1. Attract new customers by promoting your web address. Put it on stationery, brochures, catalogues, newspaper and magazine ads. Think of new ways: on your products; on the side of your car. Add your e-mail address too!
  2. Advertise on portal sites, and request links from the portals to your web site. The right portal (there are lots of good ones!) may be your local community or region portal, an industry portal, or an export portal like www.austrade.gov.au .
  3. Register with the main search engines, and try to get a Top 20 position for your main key words. You may need to work at this!
  4. Lastly, turn new visitors into repeat visitors:

  5. Keep your web site fresh and up to date, so there’s always something new to look at or buy. Try a regular e-mail newsletter too.
