Customers will continue to demand the development of web sites to meet their needs! They have learnt that good web sites can help them to be more informed, to buy better, to be serviced better - because all these help reduce their costs.

Their focus online is WIIFM: What’s In It For ME? How can this web site help me? And the answer has to be clear in under 5 seconds, or they go to other web sites.

What will customers look for in 2003?

  1. Information that is immediately useful to them because it’s
  2. relevant
    clearly presented
    comprehensive
    fresh and up to date
  3. Above all it clearly says how you can help them.
  4. Convenience Web sites which are easy to use:
    1. information is easy to find
      good page design and layout
  5. Value adds Inquiry buttons are essential. And your web site may not have online ordering and payment, but you should consider providing:
    1. downloads of catalogues, fact sheets, case studies
      quotation request forms
      "what’s the right product for me" calculators and estimators

Some Pointers

Don’t use: flashing graphics, poor quality photos and diagrams, long winded explanations, or any advertising not closely relevant to your own products and services
Survey your regular customers and find out what they want on your web site.
